Original Item: Only one available. This is an excellent condition M1 Garand rigid leather scabbard by Fulton Leather Goods Company, which is dated 1942. We have seen a few of these before, usually in pieces or completely hardened. This example however is still relatively supple. The stitching is complete, all rivets present, and the original galvanized finish on the cocking lever guard is almost completely intact. The leather securing straps however are missing, most likely re-purposed after the war. Also, a bit of the leather at the top was removed on the cocking lever side, probably due to deterioration. Measures approximately 30 inches in overall length.
These scabbards were used to attach to Jeeps, motorcycles, horses and other transportation equipment. This kept the rifle at the ready, while also keeping it well secured and protected. This fine example is marked:
Fulton Leather Goods Company was based at 138 West 25th Street in New York City, New York. They were mainly geared towards luggage and other leather goods for the Civilian population, however once the war began, they were issued with military contracts to manufacture various items, including these Garand Scabbards.
